Dear Sweet baby Claira Marie, I wanted to write down how you joined our little family before time gets away from me. I am not too eloquent in my words, but the thoughts are there :)
Your Due Date was Originally November 21st 2011, and on my first doctors appointment she laughed and said that the baby on the Ultra sound was way older than 12 weeks... So the next day I got a Official Ultra Sound and they bumped me from November 21st to October 2oth!! 4 weeks earlier, AWESOME, and WOW, how could I be Off that much...sheesh. You just keep surprising us around ever corner!!
Now soon later we had our Ultra Sound to determine if you were a boy or girl, (Now I already knew that you were a sweet baby girl)...
-Segway-
When your older sister Hannah was born, and I held her in the hospital for the first time,...I saw you. I saw you as clear as day watching us up in heaven and you were so excited for your sister, and you knew that you were next. Now normally just having a baby only minutes before, you would expect I would totally freak out and panic that another little baby would join our family, to even think of another child was overwhelming, BUT it was not for me! It was a special thing I got to see, and think I was privileged to see, because it help prepare me for your coming....(which by they way took along time.)
-Segway back-
So while getting the ultra sound I knew you were a little girl, and your daddy and me really had Claira picked out from the beginning, and if you were a boy, we had no Idea what to call you...but I knew who you were!
So my pregnancy with you was sooooo super! You were such a sweet little bundle.
Now your Sister Hannah was due on the 20th of May and she came on the 14th...so I just assumed that my little girls love to be early and jump into life, ( the boys took their time and were always past their due dates)...
So once October hit I was really ready, that might have been the problem, I mean my bags were packed for the hospital, baby clothes were washed and in Drawers. Car seats and Strollers ready, crib was up a waiting for you, house was clean....then dirty...then clean...then dirty...well that I was never able to keep ready for you...You must know how it goes! Well we had a family camping trip planned, and I was nervous to go, but the Doctor said I was looking fine, and it was safe to go, so October 7th 2011 weekend we went with Gma and Gpa Speakman and Family and had a ball, and You and I did great.
So we got home and waited some more, then it was the 14th, nope, the 15th, nope...the 20th, nope...the 25th... nope, Well they were talking about a small induction, and well, we scheduled it for November 1st, because I was trying to avoid Halloween as your birthday...
So we enjoyed pre-Halloween festivities and Carnivals, and on Halloween day, we were getting ready for the Church Trunk or Treat, Grandma Rogers was over at the house helping me just catch up on some laundry, when I got hit with a massive contraction out of the blue! Then it went away and a half hour later I stood up to go the the bathroom, when Woooosh! my water broke, it was small amounts but totally a new experience for Mom here, my water never broke with any of your brothers or sister.
The time was 2pm, I called your dad ASAP, and then jumped in the shower, which I was going to do earlier in the Morning and Time got away from me...now I had to. Dad's phone went straight to Voice Mail so I called his work, they didn't get him....20 mins later I called again and said to them.... Tell Jaron to get home NOW....and dad was home in 15 mins.
We left for the hospital at 3pm, Grandma Rogers was still here so she was able to stay with your sister and Wyatt and Hyrum when he got home from school. Again, remember this is Halloween day. So I wasn't sure what i was going to say to the boys about going trick or treating...But Aunt Carley and Uncle Brant came and swooped in and took the boys with them to go Trick-or-Treating, and Hannah got to go with Grandma Speakman and play.
So that was taken care of, and while riding to the hospital which was about 10-15 min drive, the contractions were 2-3 mins apart.
I walked in, not very well... and said, I'm ready to have a baby. They sent me into a room to get into a gown and it felt like i was in there for 20 mins before someone came to talk to me ( but it was only like 5-10...but my contractions were hard and very fast)
Finally a sweet nurse walked in, asked me how i was i said...My contractions are 2 mins apart, i am strep B positive, i want an epidural, we need to move fast!.... she agreed and got me rushed up to Labor and delivery, it was about 3:45pm now. The Nurses didn't wait to get the IV in me they went to work trying to get the antibiotics in for the step B...and fluids. I didn't even have my paper work done or Bands on my arms. It was chaos but things were moving along...and fast. The anesthesiologist came, and got my epidural in, in just minutes. Hurt like a mo-fo! but with in minutes i was out of pain and happy once again. The time is now 4:30.... it was a great time once the epidural kicked in. The nurses calmed down, finished asking me all my questions for registration and I signed all documents necessary to sign my life away... then...I was having some hard pressure and pain... the nurse checked me and said i was at a 9cm and would tell the doctor to say close, She left the room, called the doctor down the hall way (dr Greyson), and came right back in...at that time, I told the nurse I need to push, She said that she just checked me, but would check again.....Ahhh there you were, crowing away. She said not to push, and ran for the doctor. He came in right then and started prepping into a gown and gloves and was talking to me saying not to push! WHAT!? now I am feeling all kinds of pain, and pressure trying to figure out why my epidural was not working... it just didn't make it down that far, and once you started crowing...lets just say, I knew you were there. Finally he let me push, it felt like hours, but your dad said i only pushed for like 5 minutes. 3 good pushes and you were out! It was now 5:35 pm!
Welcome Dear Claira Marie.
Just after your birth, the doctor was delivering the placenta, and as it came out, he said, "OH WOW, I will show you what I mean in just a minute"...
Later Dr. Greyson showed us the placenta, and said that it had ruptured (now he didn't tell me when it happened at birth or just before) and the tear was right in between two veins to the Umbilical cord and if it was 2cm to the left or right, well...this is a miracle baby he said. then he said congrats mom, you did awesome, and then gave me a hug. He was very nice with awesome bedside manners!
You were a blessing from the start!
